Royal gardens have played an important role in shaping gardens, gardening, garden design and garden history. Leading protagonists such as Le Notre, Louis XIV, Mollet family, and more weave between the royal gardens. As the author I am merely an interpreter. I have had to select key points in time and focus on one or two main themes for each garden. Sometimes I focus on the leading man and woman, the plants, the architecture, while other times I reveal the conservation and restoration work that has taken place or is about to take place.
